Syndicat mixte "Forum des Marais Atlantiques"– FMA
The Forum des Marais Atlantiques (FMA) is a public institute which the aim is to share management knowledge and innovations to enhance sustainable development in coastal French Atlantic wetlands. The FMA crew provides advices on project management, and give technical helps, based on its expert knowledge and a large library available for stakeholders at the Institute. The FMA, as a resource centre is compiling original and validated data for technical and strategic purposes. This library is a remarkable reference site for anyone who needs specific information on wetlands (over 4000 single references with original or unpublished works). FMA produce guidelines for wetlands management good practices and marshlands surveys, as well as GIS local implementations as decision tools for communities.
Ongoing projects involve the development of alternate approaches to promote re-investment in wetlands management by the population. French Atlantic wetlands are submitted to a population and economic activity depletion leading to rapid morpho and biogeographic alterations. FMA gets involved in any program producing operational references on facilities for coastal land sustainable exploitation by new generations of wetland managers, marine farmers, cultivators, etc.
